We've been in
the greenhouse and garden center business since 1968. Our seasonal
garden center is open from May through July. We
are located in the heart of the Connecticut River Valley in the center
of the state. Just 20 miles south of Hartford, you'll find us in
Portland, CT at 171 Bartlett Street off Route 17. |

developed a reputation in central Connecticut for superb quality of
annual and perennial bedding plants and hanging baskets. It is also a major U.S. retail supplier of Alpine gerniums through mail order. We believe in the beauty and
versatility of geraniums, particularly the Alpines,
which are quickly catching on as a popular geranium throughout the

quiet stroll through the 3/4 acre garden, then continue to enjoy our
colorful garden center with a wide variety of shrubbery, perennial display, and unique herb garden. |

In
1880, tall ship sea captain Charles Wheeler hired Charles G. Larson, a young Swedish immigrant who became a dedicated, hardworking farm manager. Capt. Wheeler later passed the farm onto Charles G. Larson, whose son, Charles W. Larson continued to operate. The "Wheeler" name has been retained out of respect for the Captain by Bill and Evelyn Larson, who are dedicated to preserving the same level of quality and service that has been firmly planted at Wheeler Farm for four generations.
